AILA InfoNet Doc. No. 09062962 (posted Jun. 29, 2009)

This is an advance copy of a CDC proposed rule to change its regulations governing medical examinations that foreign nationals must undergo before they may obtain admission to the U.S. The CDC proposes to amend the definition of “communicable disease of public health significance” to remove references to HIV. As a result of the proposed regulatory changes, a foreign national would no longer be inadmissible into the U.S. based solely on the ground of HIV infection. Publication is scheduled for 6/30/09.
